Jupiter and Venus Farmer were early settlers in Birchtown, and are the ancestors of many Nova Scotian Black Loyalist descendants.

Jupiter was a slave in New Jersey, and escaped to work with the British. He seems to have worked in the Wagon Master's department, moving equipment and transporting supplies to the troops. His wife, Venus, was from Charleston. They likely met in New York in the final two years after Yorktown.

Venus was forced to indenture herself off to support the family. She worked as a personal servant in Edward Hannah's home. Jupiter also had himself indentured. This probably prevented them from leaving for Sierra Leone, or perhaps they thought it was unwise to give up what little they had for all the hardships of building a new settlement.

When Jupiter died, his will revealed that he was somewhat in debt and had almost no property.
